Created by farmers, Joesy Whales and Lonie Watie, the beautiful and highly resinous strain called Gorilla Glue #4 (GG #4) is a very potent indica-hybrid strain that has won multiple awards in the last several years including the 2014 Cannabis Cup and 2015 World Cannabis Cup for best hybrid.

It was accidently created by both farmers when some of the Chem Sis plants they owned pollinated his Sour Dubb, causing the emergence of one of the clearest cerebral indicas around.

The GG strain has come a long way and is now one of the most popular strains, and MERRY JANE was able to ask the growers how they arrived at the name. Joesy recalls a phone call he had with someone, where after trimming GG, the phone was stuck to his hand and, “told the person on the other end that the plant made him stick together on things like Gorilla Glue.”

While both farmers have multiple cuts of the Gorilla Glue strain, only about 200 cuts of GG #4 were released to several private individuals in Los Angeles, but were not to be resold. Unfortunately, because of the popularity of the strain, packed with its high THC percentage (more than 20 percent) and resin profile, it has been sold but also faked and imitated.

With its high resin profile, it brings large yields in its concentrated form for those who own this specific cut.

Those who choose extracts can expect 88-92 percent THC. Gorilla Glue #4 has been entered in multiple competitions and even won the 1st and 2nd place for best Hybrid in the Jamaica World Cup.

Any hopes of obtaining a cut may be difficult, but the strain in flower form can possibly be found at your local dispensary.

You probably see that this sits on their top shelf, but this strain moves fairly quickly because of its potency; however, to ensure that you’re getting the right cut, you will need to verify this with the creators.

What’s next for the GG growers?

“We are in the process now of getting authorized cultivators in all recreational and medical states, our authorized cultivators will get the real deal, and be able to make sure their patients and dispensaries are getting the real deal," Josey said.

"We have a #1 and # 5 coming out and this will only be released by our authorized distributors in 2016. Right now, we are partnered with Dark Horse Genetics in CO, Phat Panda in WA, TLC in Michigan and a few more that we can’t release yet. “
