For East Coast skateboarding, New Jersey native Quim Cardona is easily one of the most recognizable names of OG pedigree. The brother’s been down by law and board since the mid ‘90s golden era days of the Eastern Exposure series.

With a known reputation for dipping into the visual arts as much as musical creativity, it’s not hard to deduce why the renaissance skater would be a great inclusion in Collin Read’s latest project Spirit Quest. Cardona is quite literally the archetype of spirit, or soul skateboarding—the kind of riding that entails honing in on ability and letting loose on the proverbial “fly”. Now add in Asiatic young gun Daniel Kim—who embodies the new generation of Quim-style rippers –and you’ve got yourself a serious return of hardcore-meets-style East Coast shared street skateboarding section.

Before you eagerly take in Quim and Daniel’s newly released Spirit Quest part, much like preparation for meditation, we highly suggest clearing out the mind of any prejudgments or unnecessary thoughts. The clip arrives jam-packed with jazz, funk, afrobeat, and ballad-infused vibrations, National Geographic quality animal kingdom footage, and illustrations that help make every wallride, grind, and street grab more than just mundane or ego-centric displays of ability.

The editing, Read’s signature talent, is more about the collective and energetic junction of skateboarding as a whole. It’s chaos, it’s control, it's an actual spirit quest!
