Of all the superhero film series that have shown consistency in quality as well as remained mostly true to the comic book story, the X-Men series is arguably the cream of the crop. The first of the series, X-Men, released in 2000, was the first to showcase Australian actor Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (real name Logan), perhaps his most famous role to date. From there, the X-Men series exploded into a handful of prequels and sequels, most of which have received raving reviews from critics and fans alike.

Now, Jackman’s role as Wolverine is about to come to a close, but not before he can kick some ass in one last film. In the upcoming movie Logan, the tenth installment of the X-Men series, Jackman’s character travels to the year 2024 to cope with the loss of the X-Men, who were defeated by a corporation owned by Nathaniel Essex (aka arch-supervillain Mister Sinister). Aside from Jackman’s prized role, the movie also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X, along with Richard Grant, Boyd Holbrook, and many others.

Logan is scheduled to be released on March 3, 2017, but those of you who can’t wait that long can check out the intense trailer that was just dropped today. The trailer features Wolverine, who appears more human than super mutant, as an older weathered man who comes across a young mutant named Laura Kinney (X-23), who is said to be the female clone of Logan himself. From there, the deadbeat Logan starts to transform into his true Wolverine self, protecting the young girl from the evil clutches of the Reavers, a team of criminal cyborgs.

The film is based off of the eight-issue comic series “Wolverine: Old Man Logan”, which takes place in a time where superheroes have either been wiped out of existence or are in hiding. Logan seems to represent that post-apocalyptic world without superheroes to a T. That is, of course, until the blades spring out from Hugh Jackman’s knuckles…
