Having already shared the lead Hall and Oates sampling single “On Hold” (including its Marfa, Texas starring visuals) off their forthcoming album back in the annals of 2016, the electro trio The xx has now released what is likely to be the last single before I See You drops later this month.

“Say Something Loving” kicks off with a short sample of The Alessi Brothers’ 1976 track “Do You Feel It,” before a synth and delicate strumming transition into the beautifully harmonized vocals that we’ve come to expect from singers Romy Madley-Croft and Oliver Sim. The production finds Jamie xx as his mellowest, as the reverberating synth that carries the track never really peaks, fitting the tempo and mood of the song perfectly.

The xx have yet to disappoint with any of their efforts (though some of the initial novelty may have worn off), so while it is doubtful that I See You will be a shock to the system, we are nonetheless very much looking forward to listening to it on January 13th.
