Who says you can’t work a project five years later?

Prodigy is considered to be one of hip hop’s most respected rappers, thanks to his timeless work with Mobb Deep, as well as his prodigious solo career. From dropping classic jawns with Havoc like “Survival of the Fittest” and “Shook Ones,” to solo bangers like “Keep It Thoro,” Prodigy has remained a force to be reckoned with.

Now, the Queensbridge representative is gearing up to release yet another solo album, The Hegelian Dialectic, on Friday January 20. Instead of dropping a new single or video from the project, Prodigy chose to release a music video for an old song, “The One and Only,” off his 2012 The Bumpy Johnson Album.

In the video for the Alchemist-produced track, we find Prodigy roaming the streets, eventually making his way to a Boodega, rapping all the while. P then enters the bodega to see the homie, make a pick up, and head to a client. While the narrative may seem somewhat mundane, the lo-fi images and gritty realism of the transaction, punctuated with close-ups of the celebrated spitter make for a compelling watch.

Watch “The One and Only” here. Better late than never, right?
