As Synthy as a Kraftwerk concert.
Published on August 23, 2016

With Frank Ocean ( rather deservedly) monopolizing music coverage by releasing the visual album Endless last week, and Blond(e) in very quick succession, the second installment of the soundtrack to everyone’s new favorite show Stranger Things, may have flown below the radar.

Thankfully, it didn’t escape us.

Just like the first part of the score, it’s continuation is entirely composed by Austin-based band S U R V I V E members Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein. Weighing in at 39 tracks with titles such as “Where’s Barb?” (everyone is wondering) and “Danger Danger,” the soundtrack is nearly as enjoyable on it’s own as in it’s natural habitat. Even without the images, the sound harkens back to the sounds of 80s sci-fi and horror flicks, but stays interesting enough to stand on its own, the synths washing over you teeming with nostalgia.

Stream Stranger Things Vol.2 exclusively (for now) on Apple Music and listen to the extended version of the theme below. For those who have been seemingly been living in Upside Down all summer, watch the show now or the demogorgon will get you!
